Yes, for everyday wear. The Ghost Whisperer is an ultralight alpine piece built for minimal pack weight, while the Nevadan's 650-fill down and more substantial ripstop shell deliver more consistent warmth for daily cold-weather use. If your priority is warmth per dollar for commuting, camp, and town, the Nevadan wins; if shaving grams for the alpine, the Ghost Whisperer is the tool.
800-fill down is lighter and more compressible per unit of warmth, but 650-fill down delivers dependable insulation at a far more affordable price. For everyday winter wear where you're not counting grams, the Nevadan's 650-fill is the better value — and at $51.33, dramatically so.
Yes. The Nevadan is cut as an everyday puffy with room for a midlayer — a hoodie or fleece fits comfortably underneath without restricting movement.

Standard issue for the outdoors. The Nevadan pairs 650-fill down with a durable ripstop shell to dispatch sub-comfy temps from icy streets to riverside camps.
The Ghost Whisperer is built for ultralight alpine missions; the Nevadan is built for daily life in the cold — more insulation for the money, a tougher shell, and pockets sized for actual use. Everyday winter wear belongs to the Nevadan.
You pay a premium for 800-fill compressibility you won't notice on a dog walk. The Nevadan's 650-fill delivers the warmth you will notice — at $51.33 instead of triple digits.
Cut to fit over a hoodie or fleece, with beverage-sized drop pockets keeping drinks and extras at the ready.

The Nevadan. Its 650-fill down and sturdier ripstop shell provide more dependable everyday warmth, while the Ghost Whisperer is an ultralight alpine piece. For town, commute, and camp, the Nevadan is the better and far more affordable pick at $51.33.
For everyday cold-weather use, yes — the Nevadan's fuller 650-fill insulation and durable shell hold warmth better in sustained cold than the minimal Ghost Whisperer.
Yes. The everyday cut accommodates a hoodie or fleece underneath comfortably.
800-fill is lighter and more compressible; 650-fill gives reliable warmth at a much lower price. For everyday wear, 650-fill is the smarter value.

I've worn this through a Minnesota January and it handled single digits with just a flannel underneath. The 650-fill down puffs up nicely and the ripstop shell blocks wind better than I expected for an everyday puffy. It layers under a shell for skiing too. For around fifty bucks on sale, this is unbeatable value.
Toasty, lightweight, and the fit layers well over a hoodie. My only note is it doesn't come with a hood, so pair it with a beanie on windy days. Otherwise it's become my default cold-weather jacket for walking the dog and running errands.
Warm, packs small, looks good.
Quality is there—good down loft, solid zippers, nice shell fabric. But the sizing runs noticeably slim, so if you plan to layer underneath, size up. I exchanged mine for a size larger and it's been great since.
This jacket punches way above its price point. My wife kept stealing mine around the house, so I ordered her one, then my dad saw them and wanted one too. Three Nevadans in the family now and zero regrets. Warm, well-made, and the ripstop has survived snow shoveling and wood splitting without a scratch.
Half off made this an easy decision and I'm glad I jumped. Warm down to about 25°F with a light layer under. Pockets are roomy and the cuffs seal out wind nicely. Docking a star only because down feathers poke through occasionally—normal for this fill power but worth mentioning.
Living at 9,000 feet means I go through a lot of jackets, and this one has earned its place in the rotation. It's warm enough for morning dog walks at 10°F, light enough to stuff in a pack for a hike, and the fit is trim without restricting movement. The shell has shrugged off spindrift, campfire sparks, and a very enthusiastic dog's claws.
The jacket itself is genuinely warm and the fit was right, so this isn't about performance. Unfortunately mine arrived with a small tear near the hem and leaked a few down feathers the first week. Return process was smooth and I got a replacement quickly, but the QC miss cost it stars.
