Mountain Hardwear Phantom Alpine 15F/-9C Long (Deep Yellow) — the ultralight 850-fill down mummy sleeping bag built for big alpine missions where every ounce counts. Shop it now for $99.94, an 86% discount off the $750.00 compare-at price, at Trek Haul Outfitters.
The Phantom Alpine is designed for two-person alpine pushes: thousands of feet of climbing by day, exposed bivies by night. High-lofting RDS-certified 850-fill down delivers serious warmth at minimal weight, and the close-fitting mummy cut with contoured footbox eliminates dead space to heat fast.
The Alpine version adds the signature dual side zippers with harness ports, letting you stay tied in while sleeping, boiling water, and racking gear — a climber's feature the standard Phantom 15F lacks. If you bivy on route, the Alpine is the choice; if you camp below the route, the standard Phantom saves a few grams.
The 10D shell and 850-fill down compress small and carry light, cutting load weight so you climb more and haul less — the defining trait of the Phantom Alpine series.
Mountain Hardwear has refreshed its Phantom lineup in recent seasons, but this Phantom Alpine 15F remains the harness-compatible alpine classic. This listing is the genuine Phantom Alpine 15F Long — available here while clearance stock lasts.

Yes — 850-fill down with a draft-blocking face gasket and contoured footbox is engineered for 15°F / -9°C alpine conditions.
This bag is ridiculous — it packs smaller than my old 30-degree synthetic bag yet kept me warm through several nights in the low 20s. The dual side zips make getting in and out effortless, and being able to open just the foot box on warmer nights is genius. For a long-size bag under two pounds, nothing else comes close. At 86% off, it's the best gear purchase I've made in years.
Slept comfortably at 25°F with just a base layer. Packs down incredibly small. Highly recommend.
The 850 down is legit and the long size fits my 6'3" frame with room to spare. My only gripe is the zipper can catch the fabric if you're careless, so I've learned to zip slowly. The dual side zips are fantastic for venting and for belay bivies. Hood cinches down nicely and blocks wind. Would trust this on an alpine start without hesitation.
Warmth-to-weight is outstanding and the build quality is what you'd expect from MHW. But the mummy cut is quite restrictive if you're a side sleeper or broad-shouldered. I manage, but I toss more than in my older bag. Worth it for the weight savings.
At under a hundred bucks for a bag that retailed at $750, I figured there'd be a catch. There isn't. New with tags, authentic, and the loft is massive right out of the stuff sack. Three nights in the Sierra and I slept better than at home.
Loved the weight and packability at first, but after about ten nights I'm noticing cold spots where the down has migrated. The baffles seem small. Returning it — maybe I got a dud.
