Up to 10 inches of total added girth. Expansion zippers along the side panels open the bag for more movement room; zip them closed for a snug, thermally efficient fit in colder conditions. To use the expansion zippers, simply unzip the side panels gradually until you reach your preferred girth.
The Torchlight EXP is a single ultralight 0° mummy with expandable width — ideal if you want minimal weight and fit customization. The Lost Ranger 3N1 is a modular two-layer system covering 0°/15° in three configurations — ideal if you want seasonal flexibility across three bag setups. Choose the EXP for one-bag simplicity; choose the 3N1 for modular coverage. Both are on sale now.
Baffled construction with 650-fill DownTek PFC-free down maintains warmth even when damp. A jacket-style hood, insulated zipper, and 3D draft collar maximize thermal efficiency at the 0-degree rating.

I'm a bigger guy and mummy bags have always felt like straightjackets. The Torchlight's expandable panels give me real room to move without dumping heat. I've slept comfortably down to 25°F and it barely takes up any space in my pack. Absolutely worth it.
Under two pounds, warm, packs tiny. Exactly what I wanted for my PCT section hike.
The expandable panels are a game changer for a claustrophobic sleeper like me. It's not quite a true 0° bag in my experience — more like a solid 20° — but with a good liner it's plenty. Great value on sale.
Bought this for my college-aged daughter who does weekend backpacking trips with her friends. She says it's warm, super light, and she loves that she can loosen it up when she sleeps on her stomach. She's used it five or six times already this fall with zero issues.
Quality is excellent and the DownTek fill seems legit. My issue is the zipper pulls sit where my hands naturally rest, so I'd wake up gripping them. Also the expandable feature is great in theory but I never actually needed it. Still a good bag overall.
Slept at 18°F, totally fine. Best bag I've owned.
Noticed small feathers poking through the shell after about three weeks of light use, and there's a visible thin spot near the footbox now. Big Agnes warranty process is underway so I'll update, but out of the box this was disappointing for the price even discounted.
I've been a quilt-only guy for years and resisted going back to a bag, but the Torchlight won me over. The ability to expand the girth when I want to sprawl and cinch down when it's cold gives me quilt-like flexibility with better draft protection. Compression into the included sack is impressive for the temp rating. It's a couple ounces heavier than the quilt I replaced, and honestly I don't mind one bit. Side sleeping, stomach sleeping, no problems.
