The Big Agnes Lost Ranger 3N1 is a modular 0°/15° down sleeping bag system built for 3-season backpacking and camping. It is the best-fit pick for side sleepers, restless sleepers, and weight-conscious backpackers who want one bag that covers three configurations. Right now it is priced at $99.09, down from $469.95 — buy online at Trek Haul Outfitters to lock in the sale price and stack coupon SAVE15 for an extra 15% off.
The 3N1 is three bags in one: use the rectangular outer bag alone on warm summer nights, use the inner bag alone — patterned after the award-winning Sidewinder bag — when temps drop, and layer inner and outer together for maximum warmth on the coldest trips. Offset quilting between layers minimizes cold spots, so the combined system delivers the full thermal efficiency of a 0° bag.
The Padlock Sleep System secures the outer bag to your sleeping pad (sold separately) with the Pad Cinch System — a self-equalizing drawstring with middle securement that adjusts to various pad sizes. You can shift positions freely without rolling off the pad at night. The inner bag is cut for side sleepers and moves with you as you turn.
Layered, the system is rated to 0°F; either layer used alone covers milder 15°-class conditions. Two-way zippers on both bags unzip from top or bottom for precise temperature control.
Instead of carrying a summer bag and a cold-weather bag, one 3N1 system covers your whole 3-season calendar. Compared with buying two separate sleeping bags, this sale price under $100 is the affordable value play — alternatives like standalone 0° mummy bags typically cost far more without the modular flexibility.

For 3-season backpackers, yes — it replaces a summer bag and a cold-weather bag in one modular system, typically at far less cost than buying two separate sleeping bags.
I've used the Lost Ranger 3N1 on three shoulder-season trips now and it has never let me down. Being able to run just the 15° layer in summer and stack both bags for true 0° nights is genius. The pad lock system keeps me from rolling off my pad, which used to be my biggest complaint with quilt-style setups. Highly recommend.
I'm 58 and have camped for decades — this is the most comfortable sleep system I've owned. Zero cold spots, even at 12°F in the Wind Rivers.
Solid construction, packs reasonably well, and the modularity is the real selling point. Only knock is it runs a bit snug in the shoulders if you're a side sleeper with broad shoulders.
The sleep quality is excellent and I stayed plenty warm. But when both layers are combined it's noticeably heavier than my old bag, so it's more of a car camping system for me than a ultralight backpacking solution.
DownTek works, pad stays put, slept warm at 20°F. No complaints.
I wanted to love this. The warmth and modularity are genuinely great, but the zipper catches constantly on the draft flap, and fumbling with it at 2am in the cold got old fast. Big Agnes customer service was responsive, but the replacement did the same thing.
My son bought me this for my birthday and I put it to the test during an October freeze in the Rockies. Nights dipped into the teens and I stayed toasty with both layers zipped together. The pillow barn is a nice touch and keeps my Campmeister from sliding around. Packing it down takes a little patience, but the storage sack handles it fine. For the sale price, this thing is a steal compared to what my buddies paid for comparable systems.
