Big Agnes Kids' Flapjack Jacket Synthetic Insulated Mid-Layer (Discontinued Closeout)

My 8-year-old wears this under his shell every winter day. Slim enough to fit under a coat, warm enough for recess. At closeout price I bought two.

This jacket has been through soccer practice in November, snow fort building, and countless tree climbs. Washes well, no pilling, insulation still lofty. Synthetic fill dries fast when she gets soaked, which is exactly why I chose it over down.

Warm little jacket for the money. It runs a touch snug in the shoulders, so size up if your kiddo wears bulkier layers underneath. My son doesn't want to take it off.

The quilted look gets compliments and my daughter says it feels like wearing a blanket. Great for the price.

The body fit is good and it's definitely warm for its weight. But the sleeves are long even though I sized by the chart — had to roll the cuffs a lot on my 6-year-old. Fine once she grows into it a bit.

So sad this is discontinued — it's the best mid-layer we've owned. Bought the last size for my youngest to grow into. The synthetic insulation handles wet snow with zero clumping and the fit leaves room for a fleece underneath without feeling bulky.

For under twenty bucks this punches way above its weight. Zips smoothly, stitching looks tidy, and it's kept my daughter warm down to the upper 20s with a shell. Not a technical alpine piece, but absolutely does the job for everyday winter.

Bought one for each grandkid for our annual cabin trip. They ran around in the snow all day and stayed warm and dry. The older one is 11 and the younger is 6 and both fits were spot on. Wish I'd found these years ago.

Maybe my expectations were off, but this didn't do much as a standalone on 30-degree days and added only modest warmth under a shell. It's more of a light mid-layer than a real insulator in my experience. Quality is fine for the price, just know what you're getting.

Bought these for my twin boys for Sunday mornings and chilly evenings. They look sharp enough to wear to church and tough enough for the backyard. Still holding up after months of wash cycles.
