The Big Agnes Copper Spur UL3 Bikepack takes the award-winning Copper Spur UL3 and optimizes it for pedal-powered backcountry trips: a fully freestanding 3-person design, ultralight HyperBead® fabric, 12" Shortstik pole set, and a waterproof dry bag stuff sack. Backpackers and bikepackers can buy it online at the current price of $99.91 – a steep discount off the $699.95 compare-at price.
The Bikepack version swaps the standard pole set for a 12" Shortstik pole set that fits in a bikepack or handlebar roll, and includes a waterproof dry bag stuff sack for frame-mounted carrying. The freestanding hub body, vestibules, and 3D storage bins carry over from the regular UL3.
The UL3 Bikepack uses the proprietary 12" Shortstik pole set – shorter sections that pack into compact bike bags while delivering full freestanding stability.
Absolutely. The fully freestanding design pitches anywhere, and the Shortstik poles pack down like any tent – it's a great 3-person backpacking tent in its own right.
No – the footprint is sold separately. The matching Copper Spur UL3 Bikepack footprint is available to extend floor life and enable Fast Fly setups.
The Tiger Wall UL3 Bikepack and Fly Creek UL3 offer lighter options; the Copper Spur UL3 Bikepack wins on livability and waterproof fabric technology.

We split this between three riders on a week-long bikepacking loop through Colorado. Under three pounds each and nobody touched a wall all week. The Shortstik poles stow easily in a frame bag and the freestanding design was a lifesaver on hardpack sites where stakes wouldn't bite. Set up takes me about six minutes now. The HyperBead fabric beaded rain off like magic. Vestibules fit all our helmets and panniers.
Spacious, crazy light, and the Shortstik poles pack small enough for the bike. My only gripe is the zipper pulls snag slightly if you're rough with the doors. Otherwise flawless after four trips.
Storm tested, wind tested, zero leaks. Best tent I've owned.
It's really a two-person tent with gear, in my opinion. For two of us plus gear it's luxurious. As a true three-person it gets cozy fast. Quality is undeniable though.
Took my two teenagers on their first bikepacking trip and this tent made it easy. They could actually sit up inside without hunching, and the two doors meant no climbing over each other at 2am. I'm 58 and my knees appreciated the freestanding design — I could move it around to find flat ground without taking it down. Rain the first night and we stayed completely dry.
Loved it until one of the Shortstik pole sections cracked in moderate wind. Big Agnes support is sending a replacement, but for a tent this expensive I expected more durability.
Headroom is shocking for an ultralight. Two doors, two vestibules, and it still disappears in my dry bag.
Color-coded clips and hubs make this genuinely quick to pitch alone. I did it in the dark after a 90-mile day without cursing once. Floor space is generous. Docking one star because the stuff sack is a tight squeeze for the poles plus tent.
The short poles and compact dry bag stuff sack are what sold me — everything fits on the bike without a giant cylinder strapped across my bars. Three trips in, zero issues. The fabric feels thin but it has shrugged off hail and brushy campsites. Split three ways the price is totally reasonable.
