Mountain Hardwear Butter Up™ Long Sleeve UPF 50 Sun Shirt

The name doesn't lie. Softest sun shirt I've ever worn and it packs down tiny for travel.

Wore this in Portugal all week — beach, hiking, everything. Soft, protective, and it never smelled. Only minor gripe is it wrinkles a bit in the suitcase.

I bought this specifically for a two-week trip where I'd be outdoors most days. It handled everything: snorkeling, a 10-mile coastal hike, city walking. The UPF 50 protection is real, my shoulders stayed pale while everything else got sun. It washes in a hotel sink and dries overnight. I'm already planning to get the 1/2 zip version too.

The fabric is wonderfully soft and protection is solid. The sleeves are cut slim though, which is uncomfortable if you have larger forearms.

Feels like a second skin. Great sun shirt.

This has become my default layer for any sunny hike. Breathes better than expected for how soft the fabric is. The color hasn't faded after a dozen washes.

Comfortable and light, but the fabric caught on some brush on the trail and left a pull almost immediately. Handle with care.

I've tried several UPF shirts and always ended up taking them off because they felt like garbage bags. This one I forget I have it on. The buttery fabric moves with you and doesn't cling when you sweat. My dermatologist told me to cover up more and this makes it easy. Excellent purchase at the sale price.

Ordered my usual small and the fit is perfect — slightly relaxed but not baggy. The long sleeves stay put when I push them up. Wish I'd bought two.

I spend a lot of time on the water and sun exposure is my biggest worry at 60. This shirt covers my arms and never feels hot. It dries quickly after a paddle splash and the collar is high enough to protect the back of my neck. Genuinely impressed with the quality for the money.
