Big Agnes C Bar Backpacking Tent — $94.99 online, down from $299.95. Yes, the C Bar is freestanding: its hubbed DAC pole architecture stands on its own once staked at the corners, making setup fast for backpackers, thru-hikers, and weekend campers who want technical shelter without the premium price. Order today and stack the SAVE15 coupon for even more savings on this deal.
The C Bar uses a single hubbed pole system with DAC Angle Hubs and an attached cross pole, so it pitches quickly and holds structure with the included Dirt Dagger UL stakes. TipLok Tent Buckles capture pole tips, attach the rainfly, tension the fly, and double as stake-out loops — one buckle, four jobs.
Durable recycled fly and floor with a PFAS-free water-repellent finish keep you dry when skies turn grey. All seams are taped with waterproof, solvent-free polyurethane tape — no PVC or VOCs.
Vestibule zipper storm flaps, pre-cut guylines with tensioners, fly-to-pole connection tabs, reflective guylines and webbing for night visibility, and 8 included 6.75" Dirt Dagger UL stakes.
Single-pole architecture means one person can pitch or break down the C Bar in minutes: lay out the body, snap the hubbed pole, capture tips with TipLok buckles, attach the fly, and stake out. Quick Stash door keepers let you stow the unzipped door fast.
The Tiger Wall is Big Agnes's ultralight two-door line at a much higher price. The C Bar trades a second door for a streamlined single-entry design and a far lower price — at $94.99, it's the affordable value pick for solo or duo backpackers who prioritize weight, weather protection, and vestibule storage over dual entry.
Interior loops accept Big Agnes gear lofts, accessories, and mtnGLO Tent & Camp Lights (sold separately). Add a Big Agnes footprint (sold separately) to extend floor life.

I picked this up on sale figuring it'd be a budget tent that felt like one, but the C Bar is genuinely well made. Set up took me about five minutes the first time, faster after that. Held up through a night of steady rain in the Sierra with zero leaks. The recycled fabric doesn't feel cheap at all.
Solo trips this thing is perfect — light, fast to pitch, plenty of room for me and my dog. With two adults plus packs inside it gets cozy fast. Vestibule helps a lot for gear storage though. Would buy again.
Freestanding design is a lifesaver on rocky sites where stakes won't cooperate. We got hit with gusts around 30 mph on a ridgeline camp and it flexed but never panicked. Single door is a minor compromise but honestly fine. Zipper runs smooth. Weight in the pack is barely noticeable.
The tent itself is well built, but in humid East Coast summer conditions I got heavy condensation on the walls both trips, even with the vestibule vented. Gear near the walls got damp. Might be better in drier climates.
I'm 52 and have owned everything from canvas monsters to ultralight DCF shelters. This one hits a sweet spot. It's not the absolute lightest, but it freestands, it packs small, and the PFAS-free waterproofing is a nice change from the chemical soup of older tents. My wife actually likes sharing it because the single-door layout doesn't climb over her at night. Priced like a starter tent, builds like a keeper.
Used it four weekends now. Stakes are a bit flimsy, I replaced them with heavier ones. Everything else has been great — dry inside during a proper storm, easy one-person setup, reasonable weight. Good value at the sale price.
Exactly what I wanted. Light and dry.
The wall angle gives you more usable space than most small tents. I can sit up without hunching and changing clothes is not a wrestling match. Door zipper occasionally snags the storm flap but nothing serious.
Took my kid on his first real backpacking trip and this tent was our home base. He carried it and never complained about weight. It rained the second night and we stayed bone dry. The recycled fabric story made for a nice teaching moment too. Great tent for the money.
